Cricket
Cricket - a game that originated from England has now become a game of colonies played in almost every part of the world. This game with international recognition is played in sixteen nations across the globe. Also referred to as "gentleman's game" the fame of this game has potentially influenced people even in the countries where it is not often played. Cricket is a popular spot now and was played by men, women and children in the country England from where it has originated.
This game is more than just an event or a competition. It is indeed a unifying force among nations. It's great to see players of different nations shaking hands with each other and patting each others back while on the ground. The game has indeed aroused a feeling of oneness among the countries of the world and even the hardest of fundamentalists agree with this fact.
This sport of cricket has drastically undergone a major facelift in the last few decades. In earlier years we have seen this game being played as two forms of international cricket - ODI's (One-Day-International) and Test Matches. These forms are still favourite and most cricket maniacs look forward to One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in order to enjoy the highs and lows of the game in just one day. Talking about the test matches, I would also agree that these five-day test matches are still revered even though they are out of vogue, and tend to be boring. But these test matches are the actually recognition of the players patience and capabilities.
The new forms of cricket like the Twenty20 matches and the IPL's (Indian Premier League (IPL) have turned the cricket field into a gold mine making impatient, frenzied fans crazy about the game and the players.
